Hunger That Becomes Mercy

Scripture

Matthew 5:6–7

What Jesus Is Teaching

A deep hunger for righteousness leads to transformation that cannot remain inward. Those who pursue God’s ways begin reflecting His heart toward others. Mercy flows naturally from those who understand how deeply they have been forgiven.

In God’s Kingdom, grace received becomes grace extended. What God pours into us is meant to overflow outward.

Why This Matters for Discipleship

Spiritual maturity is revealed not only in devotion to God but in compassion toward people. Disciples who experience God’s mercy become channels of mercy themselves.

Walking It Out

Practice one intentional act of mercy today:

  • forgive someone,
  • offer help without recognition,
  • or show kindness where none is expected.

Reflect & Respond

How has God’s mercy toward you shaped how you treat others?
Where might mercy replace judgment today?
